Original/Vintage Eames fiberglass arm shell. This chair was once upholstered but due to damages it was necessary to remove previous fabric and foam. Upholstered shells exhibited a different mounting method than the typical Eames design with "shockmounts." Because the mounts could be covered by the upholstery, a much more trusty method of "hardmounting" the chairs was put to use.
Black Fiberglass shells were considered an Eames "Contract Color" - meaning they were not available in standard production. Making this a rare chair that was preserved beneath its upholstery for the last 50+ years. Therefore, absolutely NO edge wear, chips or flaws are present.
This shell is mounted on a customized rocker base with "Blush" Crosswires, Black Screws and Walnut Runners.
